Karis Cady

Design Director

When your formative years are modest, forging a path in the art world might not feel like the most pragmatic choice—but from a young age, Karis knew design was her destiny. She charted a course for a full ride to Macalester College in St. Paul, MN, receiving a bachelor’s degree in fine art and anthropology. Karis soon found her place as the first in-house designer at Pyramid. Now as design director, Karis leads a team of designers in developing unique, compelling, and integrated design solutions. Her design skills span brand, print, digital, illustration, and data visualization. She brings energy, dedication (and snark) to pushing the limits of design innovation and cultivating her team’s talent. On her time off she can be found camping with her husband and kids, in an energetic family debate, working as a board member of One Nurse at a Time, binge watching Korean dramas, or presenting on designer/nonprofit collaboration at AIGA Seattle’s Design For Good.

Unspoken ritual
Karis gets her head into design by disembarking the bus at a stop that’s 15 minutes away from the office. She transitions to and from work during her walk. It’s her “intro” and “outro” to an otherwise bustling day.
